Athletes of the Week

                                                                          Week of 5/17 - 5/21

Congratulations to our athletes of the week! Jon Klein and Chrisy Wolcott!

In 3 games this weekend Jon Klein went 7 for 10 at the plate with 4 walks, 4 runs scored and a double. Jon was also 1 and 1 pitching for the week giving up only 6 hits 3 runs and 1 walk.

Chrissy Wolcott took over playing first base after an injury and is doing an excellent job. This week she went 27 for 27, making no errors. Her speed and agility make her an outstanding 1st baseman. She has really stepped up for the team.

Once again, congratulations to our Athletes of the Week Jon Klein and Chrissy Wolcott!

                                                                                      Week of 2/15 - 2/19

Congratulations to our athletes of the week Brandon Nance and Jazzae Verse!

Brandon scored in double figures in each of the two games for the Warriors this past week. In the final league game of the regular season on Wednesday Brandon scored 10 points for the Warriors. On Thursday against St. Francis, Brandon scored a team-high 15 points to lead the Warriors.

Jazzae finished out the regular season with a bang. She was pulled up for varsity on Tuesday, as they tried to slow down one of the leagues top scorers. She did just that, playing excellent defense letting Amherst’s Smith only score 16 points. Jazzae finished with 6 points of her own, getting many well deserved minutes at the varsity level. She also scored her season high for JV during the last game of the season at Eden on Thrusday. She recorded an outstanding 27 points to help her team finish with a win.

                                                                                      Week of  2/1 - 2/5

Congratulations to our athletes of the week Toni Morrison and Jake Petroski!

Jacob Petroski Placed 2nd at the Class AAA and defeated a wrestler from Lakeshore that was seeded 2nd whom he had lost to twice before. Jacob qualified for the State Qualifiers on Friday.

Throughout practice this week and in the game on Friday, Toni has stepped up and challenged herself. Her intensity has skyrocketed on the court. At Springville, she had her season high and first double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Her defense was also impressive as she played various positions due to a small bench.

                                                                      Week of 1/25 - 1/29

Congratulations to our athletes of the week Scott Patrzyk and Leanna Pham!

Scott Patrzyk won his 1st wrestling championship at the Kenton Tournament last Saturday. Along the way he pinned 1 ranked opponent and beat the #2 ranked opponent whom he lost to twice this year.

Leanna Pham competed this week at the Varsity Select meet and had 3 personal best performances in the 55m dash, 300m run, and 4x200 relay. Pham has continued to improve all year long and has qualified in the 55m dash for Sectionals. Great job!

                                                                       Week of 1/19 - 1/22

Congratulations to our athlete of the week Demario Rhodes and Kadijah Kidd!

Demario was a key factor in the Warriors overtime win over East Aurora. Demario scored 15 points, including the game winning basket in overtime, while also holding East Aurora’s leading scoring to 12 points in the game.

Kadijah had a great week for the Lady Warriors. Not only did she pick up her play to help the team, she continues to show great poise, leadership, and composure on the court and off. She is a true team player who continues to work hard. On Tuesday, Kadijah scored 6 points and 10 rebounds against East Aurora. On Friday, Kadijah raised her game, scoring 19 points and again recording 10 rebounds. It was Kadijah’s 9th double-double of the season.

                                                                        Week of 1/11 - 1/15

Congratulations to our athlete of the week Spencer LaJoy!

Spencer bowled a 707 versus Amherst & a 733 versus Iroquois to take over the lead for high average in WNY with a 225.38. In the Iroquois match he added his season high game of 284 as he helped lead the Warriors to 2 keys wins and to a 6 & 2 record in ECIC division 2.

                                                                         Week of 1/4 - 1/8

Congratulations to our athletes of the week Jazzae Verse and Barry Pawlowski!

Last Tuesday Barry Palowski had three first place finishes 500 free, 100 breast, 400 free relay in the teams win against Depew. Each race came down to super close finishes and each time Barry came out victorious. Barry has been a team leader every week and this week led the team to its first win of the season. The meet came down to the last relay and Barry pulled it out with a personal best time leading to a team victory. In Fridays meet, Barry continued his great performances with another personal best in the 100 Breast stroke

Like during most of her games, Jazzae stepped up on Thursday as the obvious leader to the JV girls basketball team. She showed outstanding hustle throughout the game, with very little rest. Defensively, she played one of her best games. She finished with 12 points and 7 steals. Her team leans on her during each game for her athleticism and game knowledge. Jazzae is a young lady with great basketball potential.

                                                                           Week of 12/1 - 12/4

Congratulations to our athletes of the week Deon Love and Kadijah Kidd!

Deon was named MVP of the Pioneer Tournament as the JV Boys Basketball team won the tournament championship. In the championship game, Deon scored 16 points, including two 3-pointers, to lead the Warriors to a 55-50 win over Pioneer.

Kadijah got the 2009-2010 season off to a strong start. On Tuesday, Kadijah had a double-double against Eden, scoring 12 points and recording 17 rebounds. On Friday, Kadijah had another double-double against Lackawanna with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Kadijah has consistently set a positive example for her teammates and is a true leader by her actions, words, and examples.

Week of 10/13 - 10/16

Congratulation to the athletes of the week Sean Walters and Erin Williams.

Sean had a unbelievable tournament as he led the team in kills and pushed the team into the finals. In the semifinals, Sean helped the team recover from its slow start in game 3 with four kills and a huge block to shift the momentum back to the warriors and sent the team to the finals. In the finals, he led the team with eleven kills. Sean was named to the Williamsville South All Tournament team.

Erin has been a solid defender all season but the last few games she has filled in for our injured goalie. She was in net for the victory over Lackawanna making several saves. She also scored a goal in the 10 minutes that she was not in the net.

Week of 10/5 - 10/9

Congratulations to the athletes of the week Ryan Carr and Alicia Roberts

Ryan dominated the Maryvale game by running an effective attack against the Flyers.  He had 33 assists, 5 kills, and 1 block to lead the team to a decisive four game victory.  The victory has the team tied for first place in the division.

Alicia is a sophomore on the girls JV soccer team.  She had a great game vs. Pioneer on Wednesday.  Alicia had several breakaways throughout the game.  Alicia is very dynamic on the field, she will play anywhere she is needed.  She is a hard worker and a good role model for the rest of her team.  Alicia is a stand out athlete on and off the soccer field.

Week of 9/28 - 10/2

Congratulations to the athlete of the week Jen Mikolajek and Pablo Ordonez

Pablo has helped his team to a tie in ECIC III with a 5-0-2 record.  Pablo currently is leading the Division with goals with 8.

Jen stepped up this week, taking charge offensively and defensively.  With two tough matches, she was very focused and helped her team defeat rival Maryvale and lose a close 4-game match to non-leaguer Roy-Hart.  At Maryvale, Jen had 6 kills, 2 service aces and 3 digs. At Roy-Hart, Jen recorded 6 blocks and 4 kills and an impressive 11 digs.  Jen is really growing as a young volleyball player.  We expect her to be big at the net, but now she is one of our best passers and defenders in the back.  She’s becoming an overall great player.

Week of 9/21 - 9/25

Congratulations to the athletes of the week Nick Mclean and Morgan Gosciak.

In the Warriors 3rd win of the season Nick McLean scored a touch down, kicked a FG, was 6 of 7 for extra points, had an INT, recovered an onside kick and had 5 tackles!  GOOD DAY OF FOOTBALL RIGHT THERE!

Morgan Gosciak is a freshman on the girls JV soccer team.  She has stepped it up this season and has been a tremendous asset to the JV soccer team.  Morgan plays center midfield and is responsible for controlling the pace of the game.  Her excellent work ethic, energy, and positive attitude make her a major part of the JV soccer team.  Plus, she is an all around great individual!

Week of 9/14 - 9/18

Congratulations to the athletes of the week Mark Visbisky and Meghan McEvoy.

During the 4-0 win against Park school, Mark scored 2 goals from his defensive position to help the Warriors go to 1-0 for their season.

Meghan’s stats do not demonstrate her role on the Varsity Volleyball team.  As a team captain, she truly leads her team on and off the court.  Meghan had a strong week verses Depew, Amherst, and at the CCHS Tourney, helping her team get two divisional wins and to take her team to the semi-finals at our tournament on Saturday.  She really showed her dedication at our tournament by playing amazing defense.  She was all over the court, diving and sprawling to commit to never let the ball hit the floor.  Although she did not make the all-tourney team, she did receive a nomination from another coach.
