Computer Safety Alert
Computer Safety is just as important as physical safety. You know that walking in front of a moving car is dangerous, but did you know that typing your full name on an internet site can be just as dangerous?
Computer Safety - safe, responsible computer/internet use - is taught (and practiced) to all students K - 12 in our district...but if it is not practiced at home, too, it could put children and adults at risk of: identity theft, slamming, phishing, online predators, and more...
The first thing you can do to help insure safety....MOVE THE COMPUTER...if your computer is not in an area in your house that an adult is ALWAYS able to supervise use, then move it!!!
The following links are a good start at resources to use to help make the entire family safe. You can also search for more information and sites - just open an internet search engine (eg. www,google.com) and type the words - internet safety - in the search box.

Our focus is "Digital Citizenship"
ACCEPTABLE USE OF TECHNOLOGY
It is understood that we are living in a digital age and digital experiences are an essential part of providing students with a variety of educational tools and educational learning experiences. Formal instruction of ethical and acceptable use expectations is delivered by Cheektowaga Police Department’s D.A.R.E Program in collaboration with the instructional technology teachers; and is expected to be reinforced and adhered to by all staff, students, and guardians. Eethical and acceptable use expectations are published and available upon request by the district.
There are many educational videos that will help your child learn!! One great resource is Teachertube.com It is similar to utube, but the content is filtered and most of the content is uploaded by teachers for students and/or other teachers to use. This is just one video that can be found on the site.
